The former midfielder has pointed out two names who could potentially fly under the next boss radar.
Barry Ferguson has named two possible outsiders for the Rangers job - as he looks for experience in the new gaffer.
The Kilmarnock boss was offered the job whilst at Aberdeen but turned it down, but after some more good work in Ayrshire, the former club captain says he's an option worth revisiting. He said: "Don't rule out Derek McInnes. I know I will have a few people having a pop at me here but Derek McInnes knows the game inside-out, how to set a team up and I think over the piece of his managerial career, he's had a decent career at it.
Experience has also been sought by Ferguson as a key component the new man must have - and claims Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson is another who fits the bill. He added: "You never know, there could be a left-field appointment.
