Darragh Ennis is the newest Chaser to join hit ITV quiz show The Chase but, away from the cameras, the Irish star has a very different life with his wife and two children

Darragh Ennis joined The Chase back in November 2020, but he was once a contestant himself, in 2016. Besides his TV commitments, he also balances his roles as a neuroscientist and entomologist. The Irish whizz studied at Maynooth University, where he met his equally brainy wife. Although he tends to keep his personal life under wraps, it seems his wife is just as clever as him. While he hasn't revealed his wife's name, he shared with RSVP Live: "We did our degrees and PhDs there .

Despite Darragh's impressive trivia knowledge, it appears his dancing skills are lacking, particularly on his wedding day. The Chaser confessed he needed a bit of assistance for their first dance. He explained: "I got lessons for my wedding and after my first dance, my mother-in-law said to me, 'I thought you got lessons?'" Darragh continued: "So that was how much of an improvement I had! I can't dance. Something like Strictly would be way out.

Now residing in Oxford with his wife, the couple are rumoured to have two children, reports the Express. Darragh first let slip about his kids during an episode of The Chase when a question about a children's TV show came up. Answering correctly, he cheekily told host Bradley Walsh his children were the perfect age for him to know the answer.

The Chase star has also consciously chosen to keep his family life private due to the negative attention he's faced on social media. Speaking to The Irish Mirror, he explained: "I have been keeping my family out of the limelight so my wife doesn't get involved, she doesn't want to. And my children, I don't share photos of my children or anything like that. No one knows what my children look like or their names or anything like that.

Since becoming a regular on The Chase, Darragh has unexpectedly become the show's "heartthrob" a title that has amused him, especially with some fans going as far as proposing to him online. Yet, he admits his wife thinks his sudden surge in popularity is "A bit weird!".
