The village is perfectly located on the A1 between Retford and Worksop
Residents of a Nottinghamshire village have explained why they love where they live - even though they don't have a shop. Located just off the A1 in Bassetlaw is the picturesque village of Ranby, a stone's throw away from Clumber Park.
"There is not a lot else in Ranby but as long as that's open we are ok." The 70-year-old added that the village has a strong sense of community, explaining: "We do quite a lot of things together, like tidying up and cleaning the village." Despite living near the A1 she explained the road "never causes us any issues" and that there is a WhatsApp group for the village, so if people need help they can ask their neighbours. She added: "It's a great community here."
Samantha has lived in the village for several years and feels "it would be nice to have a shop" but does not think it would be "feasible." Regarding the A1, she added: "It's a good location as we are close to the A1, close to Retford, close to Worksop, so it is really handy."
