Anyone for chippy tea, then?
It can often feel like each corner of the city-region has a pretty superb takeaway offering some of the best quality chippy teas, freshly made pies and generous servings of mushy peas that can be found.
Whether you just want a portion of chips, or you want to go all out with a battered fish or sausage - and all the extras - you can’t go wrong with any of these places. Upon recommending the takeaway, one person wrote: “Richard and his staff are super friendly and always helpful, plus…..their food is fantastic!” Another glowing review said: “Homemade pies and great service, plus a great community spirit helping to organise local events.”
Another voter wrote: “Food is always fresh and tasty. Such a fabulous menu variety for different types of dietary requirements. A nice touch when they do special menus to help families with their budget and offering free prize draws to win a chippy voucher. They also like to support the community with food donations whenever they can.”
But there was one recurring theme amongst the majority of the votes: praise for Foz’s cheese and onion pie. “Homemade cheese & onion pie is delicious," one person declared. Another wrote: "Whole menu is fab but I'd recommend the homemade cheese and onion pie with chips and beans."Wright's Fish and Chips, Manchester City Centre In fourth place came Wright’s, which can be found on Cross Street in the city centre.
Asked why it was so good, one person said: “The food, the happy staff, the reasonable prices.” Another wrote: “This is the best chippy for the food with excellent service.”
