TV chef Clodagh McKenna explained the best way to cook your mushrooms - and how you are more than likely preparing them all wrong
Mushrooms can be a very divisive food - whether chucking it in with your favourite dish, or cooking some on the side. However it appears millions are 'in the dark' about them.
However, washing mushrooms under running water can affect their texture and cooking them on a low heat can lead to steaming instead of browning. “They are also great value for money and can be a fantastic addition to a variety of dishes. Mushrooms have a unique umami flavour that can enhance the taste of many recipes, making them a favourite among chefs.
The study also found fewer than half know that most mushrooms are zero-waste, with 34 per cent taking out the stem when preparing it, which is not necessary as every part can be eaten.
