The Fairfax Road car park will close next week as a 'travel hub' is built over the next 18 months
Work to create a 301 capacity multi-storey car park in the centre of Prestwich will begin next week The construction of the ‘travel hub off Fairfax Road will mean the loss from next week of the town’s biggest council owned car park while work progresses towards an estimated completion date in 18 months.
Prestwich Regeneration LLP – the joint venture between national place maker Muse and Bury Council is working towards the travel hub being open from May 2026. Muse said the travel hub will provide a long-term parking solution for the village delivering 301 spaces, including electric vehicle charging points, cycle storage and a car club.It will replace the existing Fairfax Road car park, which will be closed when the work begins. The nearby Longfield Centre surface car park will remain open.
