EG Group investors have been told that the business is in “active discussions with Zuber Issa'
One half of Blackburn 's billionaire Issa brothers is planning to step down as co-chief executive of their petrol station giant EG Garages, according to reports.
EG Group investors have been told that the business is in “active discussions with Zuber Issa regarding the sale” of UK assets. It is also believed chief operating officer Salim Hasan is also set to exit under the same circumstances.Zuber has reportedly also been exploring a sale of his 22.5 per cent stake in Asda, and has approached retailers and private equity firms looking for over £500m for his shares.
Speaking to the BBC at the opening of Asda’s 1,000th store in Stevenage he said: “We talk to each other probably two or three times a day. We’ve been very, very privileged. We have been on a journey and we have got a long way still to go.”
