There's quite a row going on
A hotel putting up homeless people on behalf of the council has hit back at what it calls "jealous" neighbouring hoteliers.
"Most of these people, who we are trying to help, are decent and respectful. Any that cause trouble are kicked out straight away." Ian White, director of Fylde coast holiday accommodation trade association, StayBlackpool, claims Hello Roomz are paid up to £60 per homeless guest per night by Blackpool Council, to stay in the hotel which is "not the best". Mr White claims neighbouring "decent hotels with a 8.5 or more rating" have been plagued by "the stench of cannabis" and other issues which are "destroying their business".
"The council needs to start recognising and supporting the decent accommodation that is left struggling because of the extreme excess of bed spaces."
