John Gibson wants a new challenge but says it was a difficult decision

John Gibson says leaving Blantyre Vics is one of the hardest things he’s ever done – but couldn’t knock back Kirkintilloch Rob Roy .

And Gibson hopes he has left the club in a far better place than it was when he arrived in 2016 with no players and facing a relegation battle that Vics were ultimately unable to win. “It happened while I was on holiday, I couldn’t do anything about it until I got back and spoke to the club on Monday night.

“I’ve been offered jobs before and knocked them back, but this one just ticked the boxes where I thought it was a good opportunity to take.”He said: “I went into Blantyre eight seasons ago with no players, and I hope I’m leaving them in a better state than I walked into.
