A group of teenage girls were seen in the building
A Rushden blaze was deliberately started with Northamptonshire Police now wanting to speak to a group of teenage girls seen in the building. Witnesses are being sought after the derelict house was set on fire in High Street South.
Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Service were called at 7pm last night regarding the large building fire, which closed the road for about two hours to enable them to tackle the blaze. sitting in the first-floor windows and officers would like to speak to them as they may have information which could help with their investigation.
A spokesperson for the force said: "Anyone who captured the incident on CCTV or dash-cam footage is also asked to contact police."Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, or alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Incident number: 22000486860."
The incident comes after Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service pleaded for an end to deliberate fires. They asked the public to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to help curb the spate of deliberate fires after a spike in the number of incidents.
