Bloodbath killer knifed his lodger to death in Glasgow flat

Eduard Maslov, 48, stabbed to death Valerijs Litvins at the flat in Glasgow’s Parkhead in March 2021. Jurors were shown horror photos of the 45-year-old’s blood-stained body lying in the property.

The indictment stated Maslov shouted and swore at the victim, demanded that he leave his house and ­brandished a knife at him. He then struggled with Valerijs before repeatedly stabbing his head and body. Maslov said: “He was a friend. I help him out in situations like this.” Maslov claimed Valerijs had gone out to a shop that day and returned back to the hosue badly hurt.

One officer told jurors: “I could see an injured male lying behind the door. I immediately formed the opinion that he was deceased and beyond medical help.
