RNLI lifeboats and Coastguard rescue teams were scrambled from various stations to Loch Fyne on Sunday evening.
The body of a kayaker was recovered at Loch Fyne, Argyll and Bute, after a massive search operation. The alarm was raised at around on Sunday evening after it was discovered the watercraft had failed to return.
A Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick was also dispatched. Belfast Coastguard helped to establish a plan and the search continued through the night before the body of a man, 52, was located and recovered at around 7:30am on Monday, September 2. A spokesperson for Troon RNLI said: "The all-weather lifeboat returned to station and was made ready for service at 4.30pm on Monday 2 September – 19 hours after they launched.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.55pm on Sunday, 1 September, a search and rescue operation was launched following a report of a missing kayaker in the Loch Fyne area.
