Emergency services raced to Rosneath Bay, near Helensburgh, after the alarm was raised at around 9.30am on Friday.
A search and rescue operation was launched after police received a report of a man in the water.
Tragically, the body of a 52-year-old man was later recovered. His family have been informed. Police say their enquiries are ongoing, however, they are not treating the death as suspicious.
