2024 will be revealed live on Front Row on Tuesday 12 November. In preparation, we've been hearing from the six shortlisted authors all about their novels...This is Percival Everett's second time on the shortlist in just three years, having last been nominated for The Trees, and last year his novel Erasure was adapted into the Oscar-winning film American Fiction.
Orbital tells the story of six space-bound humans - four astronauts and two cosmonauts - who are orbiting mother earth on a craft that keeps them a hand-span away from the universe. It’s told from the point of view of a glamorous female freelance spy with a track record of entrapping impressionable young men. She’s hired to infiltrate a group of eco activists in southern France, who’ve formed a kind of cult around a famous philosopher.The Booker Prize nominated author talks to Front Row about her novel Creation Lake.
