Many Boots have already closed this year - but more are facing the axe
By the end of summer 2024, 300 shops are planned to close, with a few facing the axe in the coming months. Of the planned 300 closures, many have already closed their doors but a few will shut over the next few months. Walgreens Boots Alliance, the parent company of Boots UK, made a declaration in June 2023 saying there will be 300 planned closures.
In the quarterly filings published on 27 June 2024 by Walgreens Boots Alliance, it stated that pharmacy sales at Boots UK witnessed a 5.8 percent rise compared to the same time duration in 2023. The company stated any additional closures will have already fallen within communicated plans and do not signify more pharmacy closures.
"Our results and outlook reflect these headwinds, despite solid performance in both our international and US healthcare segments."
