The Blackwood fighter will take on Conor Quinn on Saturday for the Commonwealth silver and Celtic flyweight titles
Blackwood boxer Chris Liddell intends to grab his title shot with both hands, after having regrets about quitting the sport.
Boxing took a back seat for eight years as Liddell started and built up his own business, but he’s determined to make his mark now that he’s back in the ring.“I’m absolutely buzzing for it. I had taken an eight-year gap out of boxing and came back in the last year and a half or couple of years. “I took a break away from boxing to start my own business, and I never really thought I would get back into it, but in the last couple of years I thought I’m doing all right with work and stuff, but I always had a bit of regret about chucking it.More sports news from across Lanarkshire “I was aiming for a Scottish title or something like that, so to be presented with the opportunity for a Commonwealth silver and a Celtic title is probably even more than I could have hoped for.
He said: “It would mean a hell of a lot if I could win this, and could potentially open the door to go on to bigger and better things as well, but at the same time it’s taking it a day at a time and keeping my eyes firmly set on this one.
