Tourists have come face to face with a boxing kangaroo at an animal sanctuary in Perth’s southeast.
The intense showdown unfolded at the Cohunu Koala Park in Byford, with footage showing patrons squaring off with feisty roo, Buckley.Watch the latest news and stream for free onThe Gosnells local said she was left with scratches across her body after the animal set its sights on her when she entered the park with her son.“I turned around at one point to see if it was still following and that’s when you see it stood up and clung onto my thigh.
Another man Turtur said was a tourist from Houston then stepped in, fending Buckley off and holding him at a distance with his arms and legs.For more than 10 minutes park patrons worked to keep Buckley at bay before the situation was quelled by park staff, Turtur said./The video was shared on social media platform TikTok where it has been watched more than 1.7 million times.
Staff at the Byford sanctuary told 7NEWS Buckley, who only recently arrived from the east coast, was hand-raised and is not usually hostile.Turtur said she was refunded the cost of two ice creams for her trouble and is unsure if she will return to the park. The Cohunu Koala Park is home to a range of animals including koalas, kangaroos, emus, eagles, black swans and was established in 1982.
