The travelling theatre space will host audiences during Bradford's year as UK City of Culture.
The winning entry represents an "incredible opportunity to create an icon for Bradford 2025", its designers saidA pop-up performance space which leaves "micro forests" wherever it stops has won a competition to tour Bradford.
The Beacon venue will provide a temporary arts space at different locations during the area's 2025 stint as It was chosen from a shortlist of designs to house productions in areas without galleries or theatre spaces.Tumpa Husna Yasmin Fellows added: "The design proposes ways to decarbonise, resulting in leaving the site richer and creating micro forests at the locations of the travelling Beacon."said the winning entry had been a collaboration between Carter Gregson Gray, Studio Three Sixty, Structure Workshop and Studio 4215.
One criteria for the design was that it had to be highly flexible, so it could be adapted and reconfigured between events and respond to different physical locations. Jack Carter, of Carter Gregson Gray, said: "To us, the Beacon represents an incredible opportunity to create a venue that celebrates Bradford's heritage and its diverse communities through social gathering, performances and artistic collaborations."
