Brendan Rodgers insists his side are Champions League class despite more agony at Europe’s top table.
Rodgers said: “We are bitterly disappointed. We felt we deserved something from the game. We scored a great goal. We could do better from the corner for the goal we conceded. But going into the second half we had control and were getting through. It looked a matter of time before we scored. Hoops midfielder Matt O’Riley – who produced a sublime assist for Kyogo’s opener – admitted he was gutted by the manner of the defeat after such a positive performance. He said: “Yeah, not great to be honest. Pretty upset to be honest. It was fine moments, but it’s frustrating being in this position again, quite similar to last year. We played well but it wasn’t enough. I thought we were good and solid defensively, conceding late is not nice.
