Brian Harman has taken command at The Open Championship with a 65 in the second round at Royal Liverpool. Harman is at 10-under, five shots ahead of the rest of the field.

Harman, 36, held the 54-hole lead at the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills but finished tied for second after Brooks Koepka ran away with things. Harman also tied for sixth place at the 2022 Open Championship. He’s in the midst of a very good season, currently sixth in the FedEx Cup standings and No. 31 in the world, per DataGolf.com.

In tough, windy conditions throughout the second round, Harman did an excellent job of playing the course in front of him, which is to say he was playing links golf. Scrambling around the greens, making difficult putts and generally doing his best to avoid trouble. A bogey-free round at The Open suggests he did a great job of that.Dustin Johnson shot an 81 early Friday to finish at 13-over for the week, missing the cut. It’s been a disappointing year for Johnson, who tied for 10th at the U.S.
