Britain is set to be engulfed in an icy grip today shortly after the parts of the country was battered by devastating floods. There may be difficult travel conditions across north Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland and the Midlands until 10am today as frosty temperatures take hold. The Met Office has also issued a snow and ice warning covering parts of northern Scotland until 10am.
The forecaster has warned rain mixing with snow could lead to travel disruption as well as perilous conditions on the roads. Allowing extra time is also advised, with delays, diversions, or hampered conditions likely for road users. Travel alerts have also been issued by both National Rail and the Met Office to keep in mind during the blast of wintry weather today. Public transport users have been urged to check any timetables and services before setting out in case of delays or cancellations due to inclement weather.
