Locals have apparently become increasingly annoyed by the huge numbers of tourists in the Costa del Sol in Malaga where millions of people go on holiday every year, reports the Mirror. Stickers have been plastered on walls and doors across Malaga city centre, sharing the frustration's the locals are feeling.
Some messages have included; "this used to be my home" (antes esta era mi casa) and the blatant "go f****** home" (a tu puta casa) which reveals the extent of animosity among locals. The tourism boom, alongside a rising number of short-term rentals has prompted outrage among the inhabitants of Malaga. Dani Drunko, owner of the popular bar Drunkorama, is behind the sticker initiative, which is inspired by personal experiences of being displaced from his home. He spoke of his eviction from a property he called home for a decade with the local newspaper Diario Sur. Dani claimed it was because of the landlord's preference for short-term rentals over long-term tenants. Drunko explained: "There's a lot of hype because locals are tired of the situation. "Malaga city centre has been going downhill for a long time."
