A British ice hockey match has been abandoned after one of its Nottingham players became involved in a medical emergency. The Sheffield Steelers Challenge Cup match against the Nottingham Panthers had to be cut short and fans were told to leave Sheffield Arena.
Screens were placed around the injured player, who is understood to be Adam Johnson. And eye witnesses say other players formed a ring around their hurt colleague, the Mirror reports. Journalist Peter Spencer posted from the match: "Nottingham Panthers player badly hurt after a collision in mid-ice. Paramedics are now on the ice, players are forming a ring around him and now screens are up around him. Awful scenes here at Sheffield Arena."
