A British woman, Rachel Stallard, who claimed to have been unjustly imprisoned in Thailand after confronting a client who owed her £30,000, has found herself in further controversy. Stallard, a private-estates consultant from Bournemouth, alleged that she was arrested and faced seven serious charges stemming from a dispute. She stated in a now-deleted LinkedIn post that she traveled to Thailand to collect the unpaid wages from a 'millionaire client' who became agitated by her request.
According to Stallard, she was detained in a Thai prison cell for four days and nights with minimal food and water, even claiming to have bribed a police guard for scraps. She also alleged that she was found guilty of two charges without even providing a statement. However, Thai police have refuted her claims, branding her a liar and releasing CCTV footage that appears to contradict her account. The footage shows Stallard in the alleged victim's apartment, saying 'I can do what I like'. A male accomplice is then seen wrestling the victim, Stefano Schiavi, a 47-year-old Italian, pinning him down, choking him, and threatening to 'f**k him up'. Stallard is seen approaching the man and seemingly handing him a long white object, possibly made of plastic. Thai police assert that both Stallard and the male suspect attacked Schiavi, causing severe injuries to his neck and chest. They also state that Stallard was detained for less than 48 hours and provided with three meals a day. Furthermore, they deny any allegations of bribery, challenging her to report any such incidents. Thai police intend to press charges against both Stallard and the male suspect, including theft by violence in a dwelling, attempted theft by violence, trespassing, illegal detention, causing injury, and extortion.
