Temperatures reach 31C as Brits flock to beaches
BRITS are racing to the beaches as the mercury hits 31C across the UK - but the Met Office warns of thunderstorms to come.The UK Health Security Agency has issued a Yellow Health Alert for parts of the country.
Despite the warning, Brits have been pictured bathing in the sun as they try to make the best of the warm spell.Met Office Chief Meteorologist Frank Saunders said: "Temperatures are likely to peak at around 32C in southeast England on Tuesday and Wednesday, with much of the UK experiencing dry, fine and warm conditions in the first half of the week."
While many Brits will continue to enjoy the warm weather on Wednesday, there's a high chance several will be hit with thundery showers.Winter fuel payments scrapped for millions – check to see if you'll get cash David Oliver, Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist, said: "The heaviest showers on Thursday could result in 20-30mm of rain within an hour, with daily totals possibly reaching as high as 90mm if multiple showers impact the same location.Thursday's thundery showers are a sign of a shift towards a more unsettled weather forecast expected for the UK later in the week and into the weekend.
