The Met Office has confirmed the threshold for a heatwave has been met in Nottingham
Nottingham is officially enjoying a heatwave, meteorologists have confirmed. Temperatures are due to rise to more than 27C in the city on Tuesday, July 30.
Met Office maps show that the threshold value for Nottingham and the East Midlands is 27C. Temperatures are due to peak on Tuesday, July 30 at 27C between 3pm and 7pm but it will feel as high as 28C or 29C. "Elsewhere, an area of showery rain is likely to develop and move northeastwards across parts of Wales, the Midlands and northern England. This will be heavy and perhaps thundery at times, persisting through Thursday morning before easing towards midday. Some areas could receive rain accumulations of 25-50 mm over the course of a few hours.
