Ayr were forced to try and play catch-up as Raith raced to a two-goal first half lead at Somerset.

Lee Bullen urged his Ayr players to cut out the defensive errors as Raith left Somerset Park with all three points. Dylan Easton's first half double left United with a mountain they ultimately could not climb after the interval. And it left a frustrated Bullen to curse the number of goals his side are gifting - with Ayr already leaking 16 this Championship season.

"A mad 15 minute spell has led to us losing the game of football. We threw questions of them at half time and asked the more experienced players to become leaders, which we never had in that 15 minute spell. To be fair to them they responded in the second half and we've had enough opportunities to get something. We had the momentum and I thought we'd go on again after our goal to get something.

"We've got to stay positive and in the last two or three games we've really started to become a threat and it's about showing composure in the final third. We are definitely improving and I believe the group of players understand what we're after moving forward."
