Burnley head coach Scott Parker has defended referee James Bell's decision not to award Leeds United a penalty in their Championship match. Despite strong claims for a spot kick from the home side, Bell pointed for a corner after Manor Solomon appeared to be brought down by Joe Worrall. Luca Koleosho scored the only goal of the game for Burnley.
Burnley head coach Scott Parker has claimed referee James Bell got the big decision right in their win at Leeds United . The Whites were convinced they should have been awarded a first half penalty after Manor Solomon appeared to be brought down by Joe Worrall. Former Nottingham Forest defender Worrall was caught the wrong side but Bell pointed emphatically for a corner, much to the home fans’ fury.
Luca Koleosho was the hero for the Clarets, firing home the winner in the 18th minute following a 70-yard run. It was a dogged performance from the visitors, with United enjoying 71 per cent of possession. “The foundations that got us the three points today was everything what we need to stand for as a team: grit, determination, battling spirit to a man and we showed every bit of that and that’s ultimately why we got the three points.”
