UNISON is calling on the local authority to look into the matter after the success of the review for home carers.

South Lanarkshire Council is being urged to review all caring roles to ensure workers are appropriately paid.

This is great news for all those workers and will have real benefits for the services they provide. However, there are several other roles in the council who also care for vulnerable people.

“We are saying to the council, let’s value care, and review all these roles to ensure that the people who receive the services are supported by properly valued and paid staff.” And now the union is calling for similar roles to be reviewed, and has launched its Let’s Value Care campaign by writing to every councillor asking for support.
