Family, friends and colleagues honored Derbin who was killed in the line of duty in an ambush
EUCLID, Ohio -- Hundreds of people showed up for a candlelight vigil outside the Euclid Police Department on Tuesday night forOfficers hugged each other as they arrived for the vigil. Guests held candles as others spoke of Derbin’s life, and his desire to become a police officer like his father and grandfather before him.
John Keany, a resident of Cleveland’s Old Brooklyn neighborhood, organized the event with Euclid residents Patty Carter and Kimmy Herman. Keany decided to put together an event after calling the Euclid Police Department and finding out it hadn’t made plans for a vigil.
