Lindy Leah, a 44-year-old care worker, is on trial for allegedly engaging in 'highly inappropriate behaviour' with a teenage resident at the children's home where she worked. The prosecution claims Leah wore revealing clothing, offered to return the teenager's phone in exchange for 'a love bite', and stored videos of him while he slept.
A care worker , Lindy Leah, is on trial in Liverpool Crown Court accused of engaging in 'highly inappropriate behaviour' with a teenage resident at the children's home where she worked as deputy manager. The prosecution alleges that the 44-year-old, who is married and a mother of two, wore 'completely unsuitable clothing' that was 'skin tight and highly revealing' in the presence of the teenager. They also claim Leah offered to return his mobile phone in exchange for 'a love bite'.
Simon Christie, prosecuting, told the jury that Leah 'fell in love' with the boy, but the crown argues that this went beyond appropriate care and support and became something more physical and inappropriate. The teenager is not giving evidence in the case and does not support the prosecution. The prosecution relies on the observations of other adults who witnessed Leah's interactions with the teenager, as well as numerous WhatsApp messages between the two. These messages, according to Christie, reveal a relationship far removed from that of a key worker and a child, with numerous expressions of love. In one instance, Leah reportedly offered to return the teenager's phone on Wednesday 'for a love bite'. Leah is also accused of storing video footage of the teenager while he was 'asleep or in bed' on her mobile phone. Concerns over Leah's behavior led to her being spoken to by police in June last year, at which stage she denied any improper behavior. However, despite being released on bail with a condition to cease contact with the boy, a colleague later saw Leah with him in an Audi car at Walton Hall Park the following month. Other colleagues reportedly expressed concern over Leah frequently wearing 'completely unsuitable clothing' that was 'skin tight and highly revealing', including a 'bodysuit without underwear' and 'highly visible thongs'. One staff member recalled Leah telling the teenager 'I've had a shower but I forgot to bring clean knickers' and then pulling up her bodysuit to reveal her nipples. Another manager reported seeing the boy lying in Leah's bed at the home and Leah's response that 'he's comfortable. He always does that and no one else has a problem with it'. The teenager's mother initially expressed satisfaction with the care her son was receiving at the home but grew increasingly concerned as time passed. When she confronted Leah about her concerns, Leah reportedly replied that the boy 'had her wrapped around his little finger' and that she 'loved him like one of her own', adding that she 'thought he was gorgeous and handsome'. Leah denies one count of being a person in a position of trust causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The trial continues and is expected to last for around a week
