It would extend into an empty premises next door if planners approve
An casino in Arnold has applied to Gedling Borough Council for planning permission to extend its premises into the vacant unit next door. Admiral Slots & Casino, on Front Street, currently sits next to the closed Shayan's Fishmongers.
The premises at 91b Front Street became Admiral in the summer of 2016, having previously been Sun Valley Amusements, a trading name of the same leisure company which owns both brands - Luxury Leisure. The company also owns the Kwik Tan chain of tanning salons, one of which occupies the premises upstairs at 91b and is accessed through the casino's front door.
The premises has been a gaming centre since the 1980s. The planning application argues that adult gaming centres are "established bona fide town centre uses which add to the diversity and choice of uses in town centre locations and which have no harmful impact on retailing activity. Use of the property at a time when town centres are in decline ought to be supported."
