One thing Casualty holds very dear to its heart is making sure that the medical accuracy of the show is as close to perfection as possible. A huge amount of time and effort goes into making sure every medical reference is correct whilst still providing an entertaining and thrilling drama.How the team at ‘Casualty’ achieve this gargantuan task is by bringing in medical professionals to advise and make sure that everything is correct and realistic.
We asked Pete Salt about his time working with the show, what he enjoys about ‘Casualty’ and where he sees the show going in the future. One thing that Pete mentioned was that there is now a large plethora of A&E programs that show what goes on in a hospital to the public. However, back in the days 35 years ago where ‘Casualty’ was being created there wasn’t anything like that at all, it may have even been the first drama of its kind, showing the workings of the Emergency Department.
One thing Pete was really passionate about during the interview was how ‘Casualty’ aimed to dispel the belief that the Doctors are the Nurses’ bosses. That is not true in the slightest, they work in a completely different way even though they work very closely together.
