CEBU CITY — The Cebu City government has provided financial incentive to two weightlifters representing the Philippines at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Acting Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia handed out P200 ,000 each to the families of Elreen Ando and John Ceniza during a ceremony at City Hall on Monday.The cash gift aims to support the athletes' needs as they compete on the world stage. Combo Photo by RIO DELUVIO and PSC Ando , 25, secured her Olympic spot after achieving a high Olympic qualifying ranking at the International Weightlifting Federation World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, in April.
Connie Jean Ando and Monette Ceniza-Catingub, relatives of the athletes, gratefully accepted the cash incentives on their behalf.Philippine Sports Commission Commissioner Edward Hayco and other city officials witnessed the giving of the incentives.Garcia said that the gesture reflects the city's commitment to nurturing and supporting its athletes as they strive for excellence in their respective sports.
