Interim boss Matt Lawlor stepped in after the decision to axe Brown and his assistant Steven Whittaker as he guided the team to a first win of the campaign over Tranmere Rovers in the Football League Trophy Group D clash. He hailed the departed duo as two 'unbelievable' humans as he opened up on the feelings within the group after the news.
"I have exchanged messages with them, so it's a strange feeling. But then once you wrap your head around it, it's exciting for me, being at the club so long and being a local boy.
