Gogglebox favourites Giles Wood and Mary Killen are beloved for their witty banter on the hit Channel 4 show
Channel 4's Gogglebox continues to captivate audiences, and among the fan favourites are Giles Wood and Mary Killen. Since joining the hit TV programme in 2015, Giles and Mary have charmed viewers with their unique chemistry, playful teasing, and the odd squabble.
Their unusual term of endearment, "nutty", has both amused and puzzled viewers. Explaining the pet name, Mary said: "We call each other 'nutty' because we both consider the other to be a bit mad. Giles shared: "Working together on Gogglebox watching telly at the same time meant Mary and I suddenly no longer lived like two intimate strangers, Mary working from 6am till 8pm, then falling asleep slightly drunk at 9pm; me gardening from 1pm till 3.30pm, when I have lunch, and then going to bed at two in the morning after watching vintage horror films.
In 1999, Mary also struggled with Legionnaires' disease. Sharing her experience with the Guardian, Mary disclosed: "The closest I've come to death was contracting Legionnaires' disease in 1999. Giles quipped: "Just as I'm starting to enjoy my retirement." Mary humorously retorted: "What retirement? You haven't worked first. You retired at 21, so now you can start working, do it in reverse."
Inside their home life in 'The Grottage' Fans have grown accustomed to glimpses into the couple's charming Wiltshire thatched cottage during the show, affectionately dubbed 'The Grottage' by the pair. Cosy in their living room, they watch TV and chat about current affairs.
