All Creatures Great and Small featured a heartbreaking moment in the penultimate episode as Richard Carmody left for London.
All Creatures Great and Small was back on Channel 5 and Siegfried Farnon was thrilled when Richard Carmody got offered a very special opportunity. After passing his exams, he was given the chance to go to London to join a prestigious project.
Siegfried told him he would always be welcome to stay at Skeldale, even if he took the job in London. Knowing he would always have a 'family' there, Carmody decided to take the job. "We have all become very fond of him. So Carmody, a vet who never wanted to sign up to serve in the armed forces, has headed off, now fully qualified, to use his intellectual prowess and passion for research to aid the war effort at a special veterinary research placement in London, earned by gaining the highest grades in his final year at veterinary college.
