I boarded the packed bus to the coast on a sunny Thursday to speak to passengers about the £2 single ticket from Lincoln to Skegness - a bargain worth taking advantage of until the promo ends on October 31.
Most single fares on bus journeys across England, including between Lincoln and Skegness, are capped at £2 on eligible routes. It is cheaper to buy two singles than a return with Stagecoach at this stage. Lincoln students, and also sisters, 19-year-old Erin and 17-year-old Scarlett, had an even cheaper journey. Due to their dad being a bus driver they are eligible for free tickets.
He added that another reason for using the bus is due to a lack of train services he can get in Horncastle.Although passengers 66 and over can travel on the bus for free, passengers we spoke over that age still welcomed the £2 scheme.Mary said: “The service is definitely busier now with the cheaper tickets and it’s a great idea.
The £2 Bus Fare Cap scheme, open to all operators across England, was launched by the Department of Transport and the government’s Help for Households initiative in January 2023.
