Chick-fil-A, the popular US fast-food chain, is expanding its global reach with the opening of its first restaurant in Northern Ireland. The new location, situated at Applegreen's Lisburn South motorway service area, marks a significant milestone in the brand's UK expansion plans.

Chick-fil-A is making its debut in Northern Ireland with the grand opening of its first restaurant outside of North America. Set to open its doors on Thursday, January 30th, the new location will be situated at Applegreen's Lisburn South motorway service area on the M1. This marks a significant milestone in the brand's expansion into the UK, following a successful partnership with Applegreen in the United States.

The fast-food giant, renowned for its Original Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich and 'signature hospitality', currently operates over 3,000 restaurants across the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada. This venture will create 70 new jobs, bringing Applegreen's total employment in Northern Ireland to 351. A second Chick-fil-A restaurant is slated to open at Applegreen Templepatrick on the M2 in March. Applegreen already operates 14 Chick-fil-A restaurants within its US motorway service areas, demonstrating the strength of the existing relationship. Joanna Symonds, Head of UK Operations for Chick-fil-A, Inc., expressed enthusiasm about bringing Chick-fil-A to Belfast. 'From day one, we’ve strived to positively impact each and every community in which we operate, and we look forward to continuing that tradition,' she stated. Chick-fil-A plans to expand its presence in the UK with five additional restaurants, a mix of licensed and locally owned and operated models, within the next two years. The brand aims to establish itself in key cities such as London, Leeds, and Liverpool. The openings coincide with recent upgrades to the Applegreen service areas at Lisburn South and Templepatrick, including the addition of new M&S Food stores. Applegreen operates five locations in Northern Ireland, with the two largest situated just outside Lisburn, on both sides of the M1 motorway. The chain also has locations in Templepatrick, Ballymena, and Hillsborough
