East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has advised patients on the next steps
A children’s therapy centre is moving its services for those who use it outside of Accrington . Health bosses have confirmed services operating from Holly House Child Development Centre at Acorns Health Centre, Blackburn Road, Accrington , will relocate from Friday .
The move is to enable the Minor Injury Unit and X-Ray currently operating from Accrington Victoria Community Hospital to move in, following the announcement in October that the building is in critical condition and no longer fit for purpose as a health care facility and will be repurposed in the future to protect the heritage of the building.
“We actively recognise the value and effectiveness of this team and the families they serve and are doing everything possible to minimise disruption for them. The number of patients who are from Accrington will continue to see the same team in Acorns, which is in the same building, but I accept this may be unsettling for some of the children who have very specific support needs and we’ll be working hard to make sure they get the information they need well in advance.
The Trust has made the following commitments to families who attend Holly House about the relocation of services: Families who currently travel from Blackburn or Darwen, which is around 30 per cent of the total number of patients, they will have appointments relocated to their local children’s centre.
