Chile’s state mining firm ENAMI aims to start construction on its first lithium project in the country as soon as 2027 or 2028, company chief Ivan Mlynarz toldENAMI, which processes copper for local mining companies, has been tasked with spearheading the government’s maiden ventures into lithium alongside state mining giant Codelco.
Applicants must register by June 7, kicking off a selection process that ENAMI aims to complete in March 2025. ENAMI expects to eventually produce about 60,000 metric tons of lithium a year at Altoandinos, Mlynarz said, although exploration is underway to gauge lithium concentration and other data that will allow for more precise estimates.
