Codelco output up
Copper output from Chilean mines in March grew 9% year-on-year and 20% from the previous month, with a total of 473,700 tonnes produced in the country.Production out of Codelco 's copper mines grew by 14% when compared to March 2024, and 24% higher month-on-month, led by bolstered output at Chuquicamata , which produced 21,900t, 60% higher than February levels.
R Tomic production was 24,200t, which was 30% higher on the previous month and up 71% on the previous year.Codelco output was 113,200t in March.Production at Escondida during the month totalled 120,600t, up 19% on the previous year and 6% m-o-m.And Collahuasi production declined 29% y-o-y to 35,200t.Chile is the largest copper producer in the world. In February the country suffered a series of power cuts, which affected copper production.Copper prices The boost in output comes as prices have gained upward momentum.
