China says it has raised concerns about tighter security checks on its companies with the Albanese government.
| China says it has raised concerns with the Albanese government about tightening security inspections on Chinese companies operating in Australia.
“The Chinese side is highly concerned about Australia’s tightening of security inspections on Chinese companies investing and operating in Australia, and hopes that the Australian side will properly handle relevant cases and provide Chinese companies with a fair, open, and non-discriminatory business environment,”China did not go into details about what it meant by tightening security checks.
Australia’s Foreign Investment Review Board has made national security concerns and the protection of critical infrastructure key factors determining deal approvals under new rules implemented in early 2021. A number of major Chinese investment deals have been blocked under national security grounds.
