Anyone hoping for a chippy lunch will be disappointed
A Long Eaton chippy has been temporarily forced to close after suffering the effects of Storm Babet. The Cod's Scallops, in Tamworth Road, made an "important announcement" on Instagram that the shop was without power over Friday lunchtime .
"Our Long Eaton restaurant currently has no power so we unable to prepare any food. We will update you as soon as we have power. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause." Parts of the region have been flooded with road closures and bus diversions in place due to the heavy rainfall in the wake of the storm. The Met Office has forecast heavy showers, with a yellow weather warning for rain in place until 6am on Saturday.
Met Office officials warn fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, saying nationally there is potentially a 'danger to life'. In addition to the yellow weather warning caused by Storm Babet, an amber weather warning for rain has been issued, from 12noon on Friday until 6am on Saturday, October 21.
