HMRC and DWP have announced changes to payment dates for various benefits and allowances during the Christmas and New Year period.
HM Revenue and Customs ( HMRC ) recently confirmed that Child Benefit and Guardian's Allowance payments due before Christmas Day will not be affected by bank holidays on December 25 and 26. However, parents or primary care givers due to receive a payment on Monday, December 30 will not receive the money until the following day, Tuesday, December 31.
The update was issued by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) when it provided a revised festive payment schedule for people on Universal Credit. The payments schedule for Tax Credits, State Pensions, disability and devolved benefits issued by Social Security Scotland due between December 25 and January 2 have also been revised. DWP has confirmed payments due on December 25, 26 and 27 will be paid on Tuesday, December 24. Payments due on January 1 will be paid on Tuesday December 31 as will payments due on January 2 for people in Scotland only - full details on GOV.UK here. HMRC has confirmed changes to Tax Credits.
