Two mothers gave birth to their babies on Christmas Day at hospitals in Nottingham, sharing the joy of the holiday with their families.

Two mothers who gave birth to their babies on Christmas Day at Nottingham hospitals have shared their joy. Two delighted families who welcomed their babies at City Hospital and the Queen's Medical Centre on Wednesday, December 25, have spoken about the magical experience. The first baby to be born on the special day at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs City Hospital and QMC, arrived at 1.19am at QMC.

The mother, Kelcie Gordon, welcomed her second baby, Oakley, on the special day. The 23-year-old from Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire said: 'Giving birth on Christmas Day was a weird experience. I don't really feel that Christmassy and I wasn't expecting to give birth today.' Less than four hours later, the first Christmas baby also arrived at City Hospital. Proud mum Christina Mountney, 31 and from Kimberley, gave birth at 5.02am to baby Margot. She said: 'She's planned it very well arriving this morning. She was due on Christmas Eve but we were thinking that only 5 percent of babies arrive on their due date so that was never going to happen. 'We thought we were going to have a nice Christmas morning and she'll arrive afterwards but I went into labour on Christmas Eve and then she arrived this morning. She's a good timekeeper.' The baby weighs 8lb 2oz and is Christina's first. She said: 'It was so magical giving birth on Christmas Day, it's like a Christmas present and it's so special having her at this time of the year.
