) -The Family Intervention Team’s main focus is to address behavioral issues in children who are referred to them by their parents or from the Mobile County Public School System.
Soon they could have a new way to help. Gov. Kay Ivey awarded a nearly $40,000 grant to the city of Mobile to support the Youth Connected Project which will allow them to provide cognitive behavioral therapy training to at risk students and their families. Graves says this would be in addition to some of the traditional therapy methods that are already offered. But this method will focus more on taking a proactive approach to addressing some of the root causes that can lead to youth violence.
Graves says the program would be offered at no cost to families who would be a good fit for it. The target age would be children in 6th-10th grade.
