Lurgan rivals Clann Eireann and Clan na Gael clash in the Armagh Senior Football Championship Final at the Box-It Athletic Grounds
For the first time since 2017, the Armagh SFC final won’t feature Crossmaglen Rangers with the Gerry Fagan Cup destined to head to north Armagh this evening.
Clann Eireann are further back in the roll of honour with three titles, but they’ve enjoyed success much more recently and were county champions back in 2021. Clann na Gael have made three switches with Shea McCann, Brendan O’Hagan and Diarmuid Loney starting in place of Aaron McCreanor, Sean Mackle and Ciaran Campbell.: Jamie McAtavey; Shea Heffron, Michael O’Shea, Conan O’Carroll; Barry McCambridge, Sean McCarthy, Ryan Owens; Tiernan Kelly, Conor McConville; Jack Conlon, Daniel Magee, Adam Kelly; Ruairi McDonald, Conor Turbitt, Aodhan McConville.
Madden did well to only be five down at the break with Grimley hitting three of their four points in the first half. Clan na Gael suffered a further blow when centre-forward Niall Henderson picked up a serious ankle injury that will put his participation in the upcoming final in serious doubt.
