8Chan is the online message board where white supremacists and mass murderers gather
The far-right website 8Chan has been dropped by web security titan Cloudflare following this weekend’s mass shooting in El Paso, Texas.a 2,300-word manifestoIt’s the third example of 8Chan being used by extremists as similar documents were uploaded before the killings in Christchurch and at a Californian synagogue.that it was terminating support for the website, meaning it will no longer have any security against DDoS or other forms of online attack.
But soon enough it became a breeding ground for extremism to such an extent that even the site’s founder said it should be taken off the internet.‘Shut the site down,’ Brennan told the‘Whenever I hear about a mass shooting, I say, ‘All right, we have to research if there’s an 8chan connection.” ‘It’s not doing the world any good. It’s a complete negative to everybody except the users that are there. And you know what? It’s a negative to them, too. They just don’t realize it.’Ron Watkins, who now co-manages the site with his father after Brennan left it, tweeted: ‘All our domains have been removed from cloudflare, so we will be moving to another service asap. Please excuse any downtime as we migrate to the new service.
