Emma Baillie's family are demanding to know why double killer Peter Duffy, was allowed out on bail despite posing a threat to his victim – who had suffered previous attacks by him.
A double murderer who killed his girlfriend and brother in Coatbridge while out on bail should never have been released, say his victim's family.
"Even with that knowledge of the risk of him reoffending and being on other bail conditions, he was allowed out on bail. It's crazy that they knew how severe a risk he was yet he still got to walk free and as a result two people lost their lives. "In Emma's case the reason she didn't make it to court was that she had been murdered. He wasn’t allowed contact with Emma but phoned her up to come and see him.
"If he had known what was going on nothing would have stopped him going to Duffy's door, but nobody told Stuart. We don't know what Emma went through."Emma's family also want to ensure Duffy stays behind bars for the rest of his life, after being given a 30-year minimum tarrif as part of his life sentence.
